Took me awhile to post this, anyways I went out Moriches inlet on Long Island on sunday (the day after bill hit) the waves cleaned up and was looking rideable 10'-13'. after 6-7 jumps i come off a 12' just slightly leaning to my left side (didnt seem to be much or a problem) but when i landed my body folded over my left knee to the left and i fell into the water. I knew something was wrong as soon as i hit. floating in the water i grab my leg and feel something not right and then raise it to see my leg at a 45* angle below the knee, adrenalin and shock made me grab the leg and yank it straight and swim like hell to my ski before the next set kills me. I try to mount my blaster and cant from the pain so i side mount. i time the sets and make my way back into the inlet, then to the bay beach where i launch. i tried to walk but colapsed instead, some other jet skiers loaded my ski on the trailer for me and helped me to my car. I have never hated a manual car so much in my life lol. made it to my parents and had them drive me to the ER. no broken bones but a bunch of torn tendons/muscles and im awaiting a MRI, ER doc said my ACL looks ok. now im also noticing my ankle is in pain and swallen

im done for the season, hoping i can snowboard this winter. time for a nice brace.

Happened to me a few times, Hurts like anything. Give it time and you will be fine. I've found that it happens more easily, after the first time. I've been thinking about getting a brace.

Don't mess with painkillers. That's how people get addicted; usually after an injury. I find it hard to believe that if your leg was that out of alignment your ACL is fine. You probably tore that and your MCL, in which case you'll need to build up your pain tolerance for post-surgery recovery..it sucks, trust me. If your ACL is intact, then you are one lucky SOB...that thing usually tears pretty easy.
Just remember RICE....rest, ice, compression, elevation. Ice is the best thing for knee injuries to keep the swelling to aid in mobility. Hope you recover quick; keep us posted on the MRI results.

thanks dude.

i saw a doctor today, not a MRI (thats sept.13th) and so far they think i might have done some damage to my MCL but they know i ripped the muscle in my calf. told me to keep moving the knee so i dont get "stiff knee" which is really bad from what i gather, they cant even do surgery if that happens, they wont know more until MRI. they do want me doing PT aready though, but i will not be able to walk for awhile because the torn muscle in my calf is so bad/painful.

got my MRI and report, says that im fuct..

tore ACL, partial tear MCL, fractured in upper joint and lower joint, tore calf muscle fasica (holds muscle in place) and a sist (fluid pocket) in the knee. looks like i'll be on crutches for another 6-8 weeks. Also i dont have insurance so surgery is out of the question.

Oh sh**. Sounds like what I did too. The MCL will heal up on its own. The ACL, however, if you choose not to repair it, will pretty much end your soccer/football/basketball playing days! LOL. The ACL is responsible for stabilizing the knee in right/left cutting movement- without it, you need to really work out your quads and strengthen all the muscles surrounding your knee to provide the stability the ACL can't do.
The cyst in your knee will eventually go away, but if it doesn't you may need to have them scope and remove it.
What do you mean "fracture"? Did you fracture your femur and tib/fib at the hinge joint??
If you can swing it, I'd say save up for the surgery- having a blown ACL will do nothing but cause problems for you later in life, especially if you want to remain active. Arthritis and knee replacements will be in your future- no fun.
Hang in there bro, and keep that knee moving- you don't want scar tissue to build up. Get on it and moving ASAP.

yeah thats where the fractures are.

ive been going to PT (4 times so far) and i move it as much as i can withstand. ultrasound and tens unit. i cant afford the surgery but in a few months i might "crash my car" wink wink lol
