I searched all over the X and could not find a bilge pump install tutorial.

Here is my install. I hope I did it alright.

1)take out engine
2)cut hole in hull-glue in outlet
3)glue down bilge hold down
4)install handle bar switch
5)wire switch
6)install bilge tubing
7)install engine

My biggest question is did I install the pump and outlet in a good location.

I'll post a wiring diagram for the switch and bilge later this weekend.

Please let me know if this is a good install.

Scott

I looped the bilge hose up and around the plug wires and back down under the output shaft to the bilge pump.

You did fine, but remember: when you give up on the crummy Rules and change to Attwoods, you don't need to take the engine out

Thanks for the words of encouragement.
My Dad and I were staring at possible bilge locations and just looked at each other and said lets just take the engine out for fun. So we did. I've never taken a ski engine out so figured it was a good idea. Plus my Dad is a perfectionist when it comes to mechanical things. He is a retired McDonnell Douglas/Boeing/NASA engineer at the Space Center. Let's put it this way. I brought over a new to me epoxy glue gun to use and when I showed it to him he just said they used huge guns like that and gallons of epoxy when they were building the space station assembly out at the Cape.....oh well...Dad's know all right???

I'm sure I'll switch over to different equipment soon enough.

That's funny - I have a dad just like that! It's definitely a good idea to learn to take the motor out: it's very easy once you get the hang of it and can be done very quickly. Once you know that you can save yourself lots of time later on.

Install looks fine.
I have never had a problem with any of my rules in boats or skis.

I am one of those Dads, chemical engineer . . . . . just not retired yet

I'm going to get the ski surf ready this winter. I was not happy riding in the ocean without someway to actively get rid of water.

The engine was pretty easy to get out. The biggest problem was the grease fitting for the pump.

I probably could have just gone straight to the bilge outlet with the hose. However, the hose has sections every foot that are flat so you can put a clamp on. I cut at the mark and had enough hose left over to loop around. It's not in the way so I don't expect a problem. It does get the top of the hose higher than the outlet on the side of the hull which is good.
