Going to be installing a rule 500 and got to thinking... why not wire up the rule so that it is on only when the saftey lanyard key is in place?

I know a lot of guys ride without the lanyard at all so this wont apply, but for those of us that do, might be a nice option, has anyone done it?

need to get some time to take a look under the hood and see if it's possible. otherwise... just need to keep searching for a clean setup.

Just trying to avoid installing another switch, and having to take the hood of to power it on/off.

I want my bilge to be running when the motor is not...you might too. What if the hood slips it dies and starts taking on water and you are 20 ft away swimming to it as it sinks, Or get tossed in surf or anything

Very good points, gives me something else to think about, thanks!

I don't know why the bilge must be turned off at every opportunity. It does not draw much current. Even with total loss, I would always just turn both pumps on when I started riding and turn them off when I am done.
I understand wanting to keep it tidy. But really, a bilge switch is very small. It is the ONLY switch I had besides my start/stop switch. I tied bilge power and ground directly into the ebox, so I think it was as clean as possible.
