I'm gonna install a bilge pump on my my superjet tonight and I wanted to know do I just hook both bilge wires up to the battery? I'm using a 3 pole waterproof honeywell switch also.

why a 3 pole switch?

use a meter to figure out 2 posts on the switch that are connected when the switch is ON.

hook one wire to one post, one wire to the other post.

One of those goes to the battery.

one of them goes to the + or brown wire on the bilge.

the black wire on the bilge goes to the - or negative on the battery or any other good ground ( engine bolt, starter bolt, whatever)

an inline fuse is a good idea as well, but to be honest, I dont use them, the pumps that I have had fail, either go totally open circuit, or make such a racket before they die I swap them out.

No! from the bilge hook your hot wire using an inline fuse, you could pick one up at an autoparts store or my favorite place Walmart.. your other wire then connected to your switch, then ground the following wire from the switch to the engine, or the battery negative....

in the grand scheme of things it makes very little difference.

switch which ever one you want, there are pros/cons to each.

I permanently connect my + with a good connector and heat shrink. Then I use the switch to switch off/on my ground.

I do it this way because I don't like hot wires flopping around near my engine.

thats cool man, I dont care.

as far as the hot wires flopping around your engine... zip tie them up?

protect them by a fuse?

you should use a GOOD CONNECTOR and HEAT SHRINK on any of the connections...

?

once the switch is on, the black wire becomes Hot as well.
