Yeah I am going to cut my gunwales and make some home made footwells this week on my FX1. Anything that I should be aware of? I just plan on cutting a little more then my foot length (12) and I'm just gonna glass over what I cut.

The way I have it now (foam scooped out all the way to the sides) it would be so easy to let the blade slip and go all out.
It's hard to take that step without having ridden a flat deck first but someday I will go psycho on a hull.

I have to wait till I get the new hood in,I believe the lines on it are different, since it will be down for the count modding the hood I will mod the deck at the same time.:woot:

Plan cutting a lot more than just your foot, allow room for padding and turf.

I'll be putting 25mm on the bottom and at least 8mm on top plus turf. That means that the opening will need to be that much larger.

Don't be shy, share some photos.

all i have for now is the first rough cut. i had to cut a little higher because of the saw and the exhaust tube. after drooling on spugs at daytona i had been debating it ever since.

coming from the x2 i liked the wider stance and i much rather have straps then holds so i just went for it. hope i like it :stups:

I might do that with the hull I'm retiring, it's a mess anyway so why not have some fun with it.
Would bolt down some 1/2" plywood so I could find just the right spot for the straps. Take a drill and some drywall screws to the beach and have some fun.

Take that exhaust tube out and go all out. You might as well.
If not that than at least drop it down in the bulkhead so the tray can be absolutely flat.
