FX-1 Best way to remove fx gas tank?

I'm praying that I have an ehaust leak behind my tank and not a
bad cylinder but I can see anything around the tank. Can it be removed without moving the motor? It seems to be crammed in there tight but I need to get behind it to check out my water box. Any tips? Also curious how I can get the nose side of the tank strap hooked back in it's place. It came loose and I can't get my hand behind the tank

I hate getting the tank out. Best way is remove the battery and battery holder. Drain fuel tank almost all the way. Remove the little strap/tank holder on the bottom of the hull. Disconnect the tank from the filler hose. Proceed to bitch and cus for 5-15 min as you try to remove tank by twisting to the right and tilting it. AT least that's how I do it. Takes me about 2-5 minutes now, but the first time was like 15-20 min. You can get the front part of the tank strap only with the tank out.

No need to move motor at all.

I pulled mine out lastnite to finish cleaning my hull, wasnt too bad. But then again my motor isn't in it either. Looks like a real biotch with the motor in tho, goodluck man.

You about have to get the tank moved alittle to put your strap back on.l always hook on the front side and then find something (tool) to hold the straps tight until l have the tank in place.lt helps if you have someone hold both straps while you replace the tank.Something else that will help is taking a cheap long straightblade screwdriver and cutting a groove in the center of the blade(like a V).So when you try to hook the metal end of the strap, use the cut in the screwdriver to place it back on the hook in the bottom of the hull. The old 550s use to be a bitch to get those straps back on! Hope that helps out.
