Here is the complete news story...... It was an accident and not intentional

I call BS! Anyone who's been on any kind of water which has a drop knows that any edge is VERY obvious - even a drop of a few inches. They sure has heck should have seen it when they got right up close but there was absolutely no attempt to turn around. Are you telling me a coucher doesn't know how to do a 180? I say they did it on purpose and didn't want to appear on camera because they know they did something dumb.

my clocks stuck on 4:20
they are saying they will charge them with several misc charges
i dont know something about endangering ,,,,,,,or wreckless,,,,,,,or something like that
i ride this lake every weekend and there are tons of dip$hit$ on couches out there
i think we should encourage them all to try it
and the water was 8" where they landed i think
i know it was shallow

I would try to climb in on my ski... I think that would be a blast to play on especially the rushing water down on the bottom. I think the water was deep enough. The ski didn't even bobble as it left the dam. I bet the ski isn't even scratched. And they didn't slow down and stop when they hit the water. The rushing water below was probably 30+ MPH

Our spillway has markers so you know how deep the rushing water is as it drops off of the dam. It can be 12 inches deep but looks like it wouldn't go over your shoes.

That water they landed in isn't more than 1ft deep, with a cement bottom. No way anyone would do it on purpose. Talk about landing flat.... ouch.

:haha: thats so great. I actually knew this guy that went to the same gym as us. He always told us about his seadoo rxp he use to get going real fast and jump the dam where we ride
That's a Yamaha in the vid, you are not talking about the same guy, I assume?

I dont see why it would be filmed if they werent planning anything "exciting"...

To me it looked like they were going WOT straight for the dropoff... It was getting dark, so Id assume that they knew the lake, or had at least been there for a while that day, and if this is the case, the chance that they didnt know that there was a dropoff are slim to none... unless they are really stupid (which is always a possibility from what I've seen).

it was intentional.... I saw no panic, nothing to imply they were surprised to see the drop off... IMO they would have tried to turn at the last minute or bailed if it was an accident... They are simply trying to play it off since it didn't work out...

I would like to know who filmed it and what their relation was to the riders. I bet that would clear a few things up

the people that filmed it did not give an interview. they did help with the rescue. i am with you nick, they did it on purpose and the people filming where there to film it. it is done on purpose for a you tube video, i betcha.

I've been close to a low head dam down past Paducah, KY my hometown, maybe a 1-2 foot drop, and you can not see the drop off when it's glassy and your eyes are only 6' off the water.

I'm 50/50 on this, maybe leaning toward it was on purpose, but stupid people do stupid things, such as not paying attention. It could be either one.

Agreed, you would not see this till its to late in many cases. You wouldn't hear it over the sound of the ski either.

AT LEAST THEY DIDENT TRY AND RIDE UP THE THING...

I know if i had a cheap 300 or 440 i prob wouldent second gess riding down it... jumping the thing full speed is another story...

I ride this lake too. I'm not shocked at all that this happened, due to the average IQ of the couchers on Lake Lewisville. I don't know how many times we have been @ the boat ramp and seen these uneducated simpleton's pile the whole family on a ski and head out to drown. They are lucky if at least one of them is wearing a lifejacket. It's so sad, I'm sure they remembered the cooler of beer but a lifejacket for the kid on the back?...too much to ask. Luckily allmost all the boat ramps are closed right now so the simpleton's have to find other ways to injure themselves. And we have the lake to ourselves.

Have you ever see a "horizon pool"? I think that's what they call em. The edge of the pool is a waterfall just like the spillway on a dam. It's very difficult to discern where the edge is till your right up on it, especially @ dusk. With the water smooth like it was.

I used to ride that lake every weekend with Kaveman and Deeznuts. Yeah, there are a ton of idiot couchers out there. I'm still 50/50 as well on the intentional/accidental side of the accident.

And hate to say it, but there was one guy on a SN last summer who I was ready to beat to death after he jumped a boat wake heading right toward me, and got crappy air off it to boot!!!

I could see how one would not see a few inch drop or even a few feet, but what appears to be 20-30 feet and with a big a$$ lake with a large wall on either side with a water depth guage narrowing down to a few inch deep runoff. I don't care I'm calling it...:bsflag: Damn jetskiiers!
