Best ski for about $3000

I have one 750sx with pipe, rideplate, scoop, etc and like the ski. I also have another stock 750sxi which I am thinking of upgrading. I'm a recreational rider, not looking to do backflips and only occasionally ride in the surf. Small surf at that. Anyway, I am thinking about getting a ski to replace my stock sxi and can't seem to make up my mind about what would be best. I am pretty sure a SXR is not for me so I am either thinking of picking up a modded 750sx (aluminum pole, pipe, etc) or a modded SJ. I am only looking to spend about $3000. Any suggestions on what would be a good deal? I picked up my modded sx for $1000 3 years ago and I love the ski. Point is I don't want to spend $5000+ for a ski. I know good skis at great prices are out there.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

imho,, you already have a 750, two by what you said in this post. You can either mod the crap out of the sxi, or just get a SJ. SXR is what you just described that you would like and rides 10x better stable than 750. (kinda boring if you ask me) I would look for a 701 Square nose Superjet for around 1500-2000 grand or settle for a 650 Squarenose Superjet for 1000. Its a really fun ski and likes to wake jump, sub and etc.... just my opinion

Thanks. I keep seeing modded 750sx skis around and seem to get tempted. All the SJ's I see in my range are early 90's. I'd like a RN if I go the SJ route. Guess a nicely modded 05-06 SJ for about 3K isn't going to happen!!

Well it happens but its rare, 96-2010 RN SJ 's can happen for 3 grand but may be bone stock or very few mods . You may even have to travel. Chances are you can get a SN SJ easier for alot less and have the same amount of fun. What some people do not know is the SN and RN bottom deck ( bottom part of hull) are the same up to 2008. I never owned a SN myself but i rode them and I think they make great surf ski's without making your wallet scream.

I was looking for a rn for over a year and I found a great deal on a stock 701 95 sn and I love it. I also used to own a sxi pro and I love everything about the superjet! So I say buy any 701 sj you can find!

Another option - find SXR hull and transfer almost everything from SXI. It's what my friend did (actually I did for my friend ). He had 94 750 SX, now he got 04 750 SXR with FP Limited Pipe. He is happy like a kid(54 years old kid)
