Best freestyle setup for a superjet

I'm new at the Yamaha thing ive been riding and wrenching on an sxipro since i started riding. In your opnion what is the best setup for a superjet engine, im talking the essentials for flat water freestlye. I'm gonna be building a freestyle ski after i sell my kaw. I want this thing to have plenty of torque and bottom end grunt.

Ported 61x cylinder and Ported 62T cases is the most popular combo. Or if you find a complete 61x motor with a 61x cylinder and 61x cases thats not bad. A complete 62t motor works to but b/c of port height will typically give you better mid to top end power. Single or dual carb? that one is up tou you.

Porting and pipe for sure as people have said, but the first thing that has to go from a stock SJ is the nasty lump of cast aluminum that they put where the impeller should be! Bumping up the compression helps a lot as does an MSD enhancer. If you're trying to figure out what order to do things in then the pipe and prop are the biggest gains from stock (not much point in doing one without the other).

Ported Lamey or Lamey PV cylinder  or a custom modded gp 800

I'm defiently going with a single carb, two carburators on the kawasaki are giving me some troubles. Is milling the head worth it. Does rod length have any effect on low end grunt. I'm going with an enhancer for sure the total loss on the kaw is a pain plus im sick of charging batteries. Is reduction nozzle boring on a superjet that effective, i know vs. the sx the superjet pump is a strength. Any major hull modifications, i've seen a thread before on pwctoday that talked about cutting a ride plate. Nose cone? lightwieght flywheel? Is there a cheaper way of splitting the exhaust the kit from blowsion is expensive. Whose the best to go to for porting?

Nozzel boring? Every little bit helps but I would not look for huge gains.

-Lightening the flywheel is like $50. Can't beat that.
-Single carb is fine espically if you are runnign a stock exhaust. The pipe is where allot of the increse is so save up for that and porting.
-You can make your one front exhaust using a 650sx front exhaust mount and a flexable radiator hose from auto zone. You will need a t fitting made to split the exhaust after the water box though.

my boat has stock ignition rev limiter mod, 165psi head, pipe, prop, case stuffers, scoop, stock ride plate works great for the surf but dont think it has enough punch for flat water if that helps

I converted from racing to freestyle/freeride recently...i bought a new superjet and added:
-factory bpipe (must!!!)
-skat trak freestyle impeller (must!!!)
-Blowsion Heads (good xtra power)
-racetech drop nozzle (optional)
this has a huge influence on all,i didnt recognize my old ski but since that im now adding :
-msd enhancer (must!!!)
-wet wolf pump cone
-and maybe porting or a light weight flywheel......
The thing is there is no such thing as to much power so know now that once you pop you cant stop......but its so Damm Fun!!!!!!

I think that port, pipe and an ign. advance will help.
I also know that the right pole and stearing setup will help incrediblely.
Especially for flat.

These companies will truely set you in the right direction !
SO will all the great peeps on this board !

There's at least one excellent engine builder above ^^ :Banane01: . But yes, I agree with Paul. Just ride it (with footwells) and you'll know what you need when you need it. It doesn't hurt to attend some of the freerides in the x-h2o tour so you meet the other riders and see, hear, and hopefully feel how some of their skis handle with various configurations.

It's Summer. Enjoy as much uptime as you can :cool2: Ooops, unless you are surf riding - then reinforce definitely as soon as you can afford the downtime!
