it seems that my idea of taking the wider rear rails like trinity and rickter have will work, Berky just popped a new hull and quess what? its shorter on the bottom and has wider and angled rear rails that seem to be blended back into the stock rail.

I was looking at the X-FS video again yesterday (its like jetski porn to me...) and I was checking out the the pump and intake placement, but also the angle in the rails like you mention.

I imagine that you could lightly cut the 90* bend on the bond line, flex/bend/flare the part that goes vertically to a 45* angle or so and re-glass it so its super strong. Might be a good use of the 2" tape that UScomposites offers?

Tom, do you think that would be enough of a change to alter the handling and stability? Actually, looking again, the XFS bond line has an angle from the front all the way to about 3-4 inches from the back, where its more horizontal and has a little kick upwards. Hmmm...

Don't really understand the wide rails and the desire for a "super stable" ski. I love my FX due to the fact it's "squirely". I really don't want something super stable to the point that it feels like a barge. When did our sport evolve to having to be easy??

That said, I love the innovation going into these new hulls (especially Tem's), but why the love for stability? My mountain bike would be really stable if I put training wheels on it...but I don't think it would be better ;)

I understand what your saying, but just beacuse a person makes an effort to add a little stability to a FX1 doesn't mean that it will be an SXR.

If you understand that i'm using the XFS as a goal, thats not necessarily a stable ski right? I'm not trying to take away from the squirrly-ness of the FX1 in any way. In fact, by shortening the hull in the way i'm proposing it would be more squirrly. But doing a few slight bond line modifications to counteract some of the negative effects of shortening doesn't mean i'm taking away the soul of the FX1.
