Best thing is to put a sticker over the scratches and move on. Or call your local boat/hull repair places and ask them, or order the epoxy resin and do it yourself.

It is not structural. Basically deep scratches. Few deep gouges. Dealership says bottom was clean. Have to file claim with shipper tomorrow. Told shipper $1000 in fiberglass work just to cover myself. Already scheduled fiberglass shop. Three week wait. Can I still ride it? Btw it does fit in my Tahoe completely. Lol. Waiting for my pro series ez hauler from Chris. Guess i don't need any recommendations on a glass shop, but thanks anyway.

It it going to look 10x worse after a season of riding it and pulling it up on the beach. :) I would just touch it up with some epoxy paint and call it good. Also enjoy your new SJ!

Thanks everyone for the input and welcoming me. I know I will prob scratch it up here and there throughout ownership, but i want to do those, not the shipper. lol Anyways if shipper is going to pay for damages I am gonna have it repaired. Don't really plan on beaching it, prob use a small anchor.

So yamaha factory crates are a thin metal frame with cardboard. Very cheap and not much protection. Plus it sits a few inches off the ground so you have to be good with a forklift when grabbing these skis in the factory crate. Shipping prob had four different forklift moves going though the shipping hubs.

Yeaaaah.......no. somebody who can't drive a forklift f'd your ski up.

Not everyone gets to launch a new one the first time. That's BS

I am upset because I put in a good amount of time into this deal (2 weeks) and ran into multiple roadblocks along the way. This is just another one. Problem is I don’t have any evidence of when, who, and how it happened. Dealer already claims hull was perfect. If shipping company cuts me a check, I will think about my options (fix or don’t). If they want to pay the shop and not me, nothing I can do about that but get it fixed. I’m gonna ride it for now and just see how it plays out. I’m just happy to get one. Does not seem like any new ones are left (after calling dealerships for 2 days) and if by chance it’s the last year of production I feel like I got one just in time.

I would get a quote through a fiberglass shop and put that claim in through shipper to pay out. Order yourself some black gelcoat and touch it up yourself. Or grab some epoxy at the store and a dremel tool, prep the area and shape with epoxy and go over with rattle can. the bottoms get scratched up especially throwing in the back of a truck/suv. Get some money out of the shipping issues and just clean up the hull yourself and what you pocket helps cover depreciation when you sell the ski or just paid for a bpipe/future upgrades. As long as the areas where fibers are shown are not too soft or able to puncture with a screw driver I wouldn't pay a shop and just pocket the claim since it has now caused additional depreciation on the item they shipped.

Get store credit, buy oil, ride that bitch, ride it hard, make those gouges look like child's play.

After you get the cash or credit, get some brush-able gelcoat, smear it on, seal with PVA to cure, sand a bit, ride that bitch hard and make the gouges look like child's play.

Did I mention to ride that bitch hard. Because that's what you should do.

Sorry for my excessive use of the word bitch when describing your brand new superjet. I'm sure it has a wonderful personality. Tell it I said hi, and to think of me, as you ride it.
