Surfriding Best airport for Oceanside and Pismo trip?

I am flying in Oct. to ride at Pismo with you guys again this year. I am also thinking about running down to Oceanside for a day to ride there with Murph and Helen before they head up for Pismo.

Any suggestions of easy airports that would be a good location? Santa Barbara had some decent rates and I would think it would be a lot easier than LAX.

Yeah, Murph and Helen ususally go from the world finals and they go ride Oside for a few days before hitting Pismo the next weekend. I thought I would try to come down a couple days earlier and ride a day in Oside. Probably not worth the drive back and forth but I have vacation time to burn so might as well.

i would just fly into oceanside then come up to pismo then fly out of slo. unless theres something im missing

I was going to just fly in and out of the same place because of rental car and stuff...........Unless I can get murph to give me rides to and from airports so I don't need a car....

Oceanside and Pismo are about 4 hrs apart. The closest large airport for cross country traffic is San Diego Airport. Murph does come out and ride with us every year between WF and Pismo. The best way to do your plan would be to Fly into San Diego, hook up with Murph, ride Oceanside for few days then head up to Pismo and leave from there. I may be able to give you a ride from SD airport to Oceanside if Murph can't. Make sure Murph is OK with your plans first

Right, He is planning to haul my ski out there again this year but I am just trying to work out the timing and details. I heard Oceanside is nice so I really want to check it out..........even if I have to drive 4 hrs.

Yeah you want to ride Oceanside, especially if your coming in from out of town, If you cant catch a ride with Murph you can always rent a car and drive one way, a 4 hr drive on vacation is nothing, beside nothing beats the freedom of having your own car. If none of those options work, a lot of us from San Diego/Oceanside are going to Pismo so we may be able to fit you in also. I'm not driving myself so I can't speak for the driver but Theres usually room with someone.

Yeah, last year I rented a car for the whole time for like $125. It was worth it just so I didn't have to be a pita for everyone else to haul around.

I was hesitant because I have been having back and knee trouble all year. I went out last weekend and had a nice hard surf ride. Even got good enough waves for flips and my body held up! ......kind of......
