Hey everyone havent posted on here in a few years but decided to try to start the ski up today. The bendix is sticking and I dont feel like taking the flywheel cover off, so is there any easy tricks to freeing it up without tearing stuff apart? or do I just have to suck it up, get a new one and do it the right way lol

Can you get to the bendix by taking the starter out to try to free it up? its been so long I dont remember. I went to take the flywheel cover off and broke the first bolt i tried to turn lol

If i remember I think I put a new one on before it sat for 3 years, an oem. Im sure its just stuck and needs a quick cleaning just cant figure out how to get to it

I forgot!
You got to pop the cover and flywheel to get it out. Give it a shake while holding it from spinning to hear if there is any loose clunky sounds from within. You can spray it and free it up but I have a new spare on the shelf and swap at the first signs of trouble.

ok I took the cover off, pulled the flywheel and cleaned up the bendix. Its is nice and new now and moves very easily and freely, only problem is, there is no woodruff key anywhere to be found, and does the flywheel have to line up any certain way when putting it back on? And is just torquing the nut with an impact gun and red loctite good enough without having a torque wrench?

ok just called jetmedix and they are looking for a key and I realized it can only line up one way lol duh. but how about the torgue on the flywheel nut?

I was just looking for this info the other day and it was recommended by a few people that it shouldn't be above 75ft lbs. I definitely wouldn't hit it with an impact gun. Supertune recommended 70-75ft lbs with an OEM bolt as long as the threads were good.

edit: just saw you were on the shore, where ya at, I'm looking to do some riding this weekend and I'd stop by with my torque wrench if you need it.

Im in Beachwood, and I found the key with my magnet under them motor and I borrowed a torque wrench from my neighbor and set it to 85. problem now is that the fuse pops every time I try to start it, is it possible I damaged the stator even though I didnt put the bolts in too far and didnt notice any damage to it either?
