beginner racing question

ive got more of a freestyle superjet, the basic mods, pipe, msd, footholds, umi sterering ,shortened pole and a few other simple mods- im an x motocross racer and want to race this ski(never raced jet skiis b4) this yr in some begginer or intermediate class- am i going to be the only douchbag out there racing a freestyle ski? do u need the sponsons? im 45 yrs old and not sure what class to race either - are there vet classes or is some beginner class better? im assuming some limited class? michigan has a decent sreies it sounds like and i just want to do it for the fun- suggestion?

Plan to run beginner ski for your first race. In beginner they won't hassle you for the footholds. Even your first few novice races you can probably get away with it. If your motor isn't ported, you can run novice limited or Nov. Vets.
If you get serious about racing at that point you might want to think about a SXR and run stock class. In region 6 the stock class is one of the few that still gets a decent turnout last I checked.

Back when I raced, Harbor Beach was one of my favorite sites. I might try to make it back there to hang out this year.
I would be happy to help you out if you want to race there.

harbor beach is in lake st clair correct? is the vet class very fast-because the 40+ vet class in motocross is one of the fastest or do they have novice and pro vet classes, im asuming the beginning class there is a lot of carnage. so i wont b the only one out there w a semif-freestyle ski?is there a mi schedule yet?

Harbor beach is farther north, on Lk. Huron. You could try vintage ski. It's more of a run what ya brung class for non current skis. The class got really big last year, and should be good again this season. The Timmer pushed hard to make that class happen.

As for your footholds, you could just tape a block of foam in them to be legal.

Yeah, the Vintage ski class is one they didn't have when I raced. That will probably be the best fit for your boat. I would still plan to race beginner the first time out.
I won my first beginner race and for my second race bumped up.

Yeah, Harbor Beach is up in the thumb.
Remember to breath in your first race. Might sound stupid, but a lot of people struggle with this. Since you have raced moto, you should be used to it though.

Maybe I will have to throw some race weights and a long ride plate on my freestyle ski and run vintage class.
