mouthfulolake I think MattE was having a nightmare with the odyssey but in the end it turned out to be the store and no the battery. check his posts it might even be a sticky. I just know about it because I like those and was ticked that they might not be very reliable. I think its still under review with MattE but last I read still going...................

No, it was the battery, both times. Customer service sucked with Odyssey direct, but the Battery sponsor of this site made the situation right.
However - the battery sucks. I would not buy another.

they suck so badly that you wouldnt sell me your warranty replacement either! haha!

I wouldn't feel right selling the brand-new warranty replacement I got as a courtesy from our site sponsor.
Besides, I need a backup.

I should probably start bringing that backup battery with me to the water. Considering both my skis ran out of batt power last Saturday.

Sorry MattE I guess I need to go back and reread the post. I thought you had beend sold some old batteries that sucked and were getting nowhere with the warranty and then yoiu were by THE BATTERY STORE (plug plug) and you were keeping an eye on the new one...? still no luck with a fresh new battery? sorry to hear it. what are you favoring/using so we can all benefit? and where did you get it? ( about to be a PLUG)

A quick recap....I bought an Odyssey in Feb 2005. In September 2005 it failed. I obtained a warranty replacement from a BatteriesPlus store. That replacement (which turned out to be made in 2004!) failed earlier this year (May?) in the same manner as before.
The BatteriesPlus store would not replace it and openly lied about it. Oddysey told me "too bad", and that warranty replacement is basically up to the store, not them.
I was also told that IT HAD TO BE MY FAULT, because their batteries don't fail.
The site sponsor "The Battery Store" stepped in and sent me a replacement free of charge.
I am using that replacement purely as a backup.
My main battery in my Total-Loss ski is a Jetworks battery, which I am very happy with so far.
I am using a cheapo Walmart battery in the 650.

thanks for the update. are you "storing" your battery on a maintainer? wait til you go to use it and its crap and you never installed it! I hope you really don't have more problems with it- for both our sakes-GULP. I have a couple of those running. I think I will try the Jetworks, do they have a site or who is your supplier?

I use the Odyssey occasionally, and it is being put on a charger every now and then.
