Not sure what kind of set up you have. I just use an extra piece of the under padding that you use in the tray to stuff in the box with the battery. It fill the extra space so it doesn't move. Then made just like you have as a pole pad one of them and put it under the straps on top of the battery.

My box is close too. Can you loosing the box up get that strap on then tighten the box back down? Find some sort of padding to stuff in there and for the top to make the straps tight.

I criss crossed my straps with a small piece of pvc between the straps and battery. Held pretty good. One failed pancaker roll and it came loose, but stayed in the tray. It'd be nice to have some kind of battery retainer, padded bar thingy holding it in.

First off, you really need to run two straps. Yes it's tight getting to that one next to the tank, but if you can't get it by holding the rubber and stretching and fishing it down there, get a tool to do it for you like THIS ONE.

Second, like suggested above, your straps need to be TIGHT. That might mean adding turf to make a nice tight fit in the box, adding something between the straps like the pvc mentioned above, or tie knots in your straps to shorten them.
