hey guys, new to this site and to pwc. just got a 93 sn sj and want to change the bars from the stock setup. what degree do i want for a new free rider? umi or any other renthal etc. thanks for the advice.
Well I will step out here and say the majority of peeps are going to say straight bars and 3 or 4 degrees. I would recommended X-metal or UMI for the turn plate. Also I would reccomend the short turn plate as it moves you forward for better control of the ski. I use the X-metal short turn plate and straight bar myself. Its the best I've found.
Congrats on the new square nose and welcome to the X! :beerchug:
so straight bars are 0 degree bars right? and you say i should replace the turn plate while i'm at it? what is the stock bar on my sj in degrees i mean? what if i just changed the bars and left the stock turnplate?
x2 I have used both this summer, currently using the straight, both are way better then stock, straight took a little more getting use to then the 0* but gets you a little further forward (next you will likely want to shorten the pole or get a shorter rn pole) you can run 0* without changing the plate, straight I think requires some modification but I can show you a pick if interested, you can do it at home with a few tools.
First pic is 0* bar on old aluminium pole, 2nd and 3rd is pic of straight bars on modified bracket, not the greatest pic but if you search Matt_E post he probably did a write up of how he did it, it looks like he drilled then run a thread chaser through and kept the top pieces that hold the bars down just turned to accomadate bars
