Barrel Roll Wannabe Club :: Admission is One Video

cheers wavedemon,
i found out the secret at the end by kind of jumping with the ski to give it rotation and it really helped.
i will tuck next weekend
hopefully nailed soon!

not sure why this thread has stopped because i thought it was great or maybe everyone has beaten me to it lol
here are my atempts, this is the second weekend of attempts on flatwater and i have landed one in the waves now,
slowly getting better.
where are you located that you can still ride? looks a little cold. Are you in a dry suit? I am so gealous.:hail:

im here in jolly old england lol,
it was absolutaly freezing and yes i was wearing a drysuit but my dad wore a steamer and was fine! was really misty so couldnt see alot there lol.

Need a hood and drysuit and I will try. I looked at steamers. I wanted to wear a pair of swets under the suit though.

Nice try

So... just talking with jesse, and i thought it might be cool to start a thread for those of us trying to nail the flatwater BR.

post up a vid of an attempt of yours.

if enough of us get this going , we can discuss back and forth, see what we're doing right / wrong, compare notes, and hopefully we can graduate to the Barrell Roll Club (minus the Wannabe!)

i'll start. here's my attempt a few weeks ago at Markham:

Saki BR Attempt (about 70% rotation)

Hey guys, that was nice in the video, i´m jealouse here in Europe is winter and there is no chance to go out on the water. It is freezing now outside, but when i see your videos it´s a little bit warmer.

I don't even need to see the rest of that wave to be totally jealous :hail:

I forgot!
it blows me away at how much height some guys can get off their own wake, and without a prejump, they just slide right into the trough and BAM crank out a huge roll. Its a cool trick that really defines ones riding skill. And then they come out with the flatwater backflip.

I was trying a flatwater setup on a surf wave ( small one) to see if i could practise getting height!! it helped!!

we were desperate to roll anything that came in that day! that pic was on one of the bigger waves believe it or not!! It was in about 3 foot of water!
My mate under rotated and nosed his ski.... broke all 4 engine mounts!!

we rode for 4 hrs straight! was great considering the size of the waves!!!

how long does it take on average for someone to start coming close to landing a flatwater BR? just wondering if its even a possiblity for me this summer. I consider myself a fast learner, but i only ride every other weekend or so and during the week whenever i can find time to go. i have a SN 701 by the way

Just depends on how much you practice. I went from bad nosestabs to 3/4 rolls in one season.
