My origanal goal was to throw a BR before Christmas, and a BF by Summer. Well, I got the BR's somewhat consistent already, so maybe I will be pulling BF's before Christmas, I would love to be DQ'd at Daytona.......Ive only owned a SJ for 3 months, like 3 weeks before the last Sebby ride.
right on bro. some people get over there fears more easlily. It's easy to seperate the bs from people who are really commited on the water.

Tim,

I also think you might be letting go of the boat all of a sudden. Never seen you do that before.

But, the attempt right before this one you had let go. You and your boat had a good 2-3' of seperation when you hit the water. I zipped over there thinking you had f'd yourself. You were ok.

I also did not see this one happen.

Verry good post Edwin! I think that 90% of doing a trick is just commiting. The only roles I have ever seen "in person" were those from Edwin, and Wab at Sebastain. I watched videos over and over, and looked at pointers that people had posted on here. The 1st role I threw yesterday I rode out of. Its realy just a matter of going at, and giving it 100%. Once you shy away from that 100% that is probably when you will get hurt. The only pain I feel is from being sore. Even the roles that I didnt pole off were 3/4 and I slapped the water pretty hard on my right side, but nothing to bad. I probably threw 30 roles, and rode out of 7.

No upside down landings, no throw aways. No footholds, just some Jerry rigged B1 boarding handles screwed to the side of the Hull.

I have only spent 2 days attemting barrel rolls but to my amazement road out of a couple. How do I get the set up wake bigger. I think I want bunny hop onto the back side of the first wake so the left side is starting to go down into the trough .Is that right.Do I crank the bars.I don,t think I am turning the bars.

think about it this way, ... there's a solid rule in motocross they always teach you when you're learning to corner.. always look AHEAD, not down in front of the wheel.. your bike will always go where you're eyes/head are looking... the same is true for the skis i think.. you were staring right at your bars, right.. like you said, that is where your body went.. it's hard NOT to focus on a 300+lb flying riderkiller that is chasing you down wherever you're going, but that is the trick.. and that goes back to fear , or better said, the lack of it.. thats what i was trying to get across the other day on the phone with ya.

you guys have probably seen me do 1 gazillion barrel rolls and probably seen me chuck a good few away as well.. i'm so fkn barrel roll saturated, not only does it make me sick to my stomach already, but i can be in any position of a roll and throw it away and still know where i/the boat is at at all times. that just comes with time. ive hurt myself 1000 times.. ive cracked hulls, handlepoles, hoods, bruised legs, shins, thighs, ribs, ..etc.. its just part of the process. you have to almost expect those things... unless you're just a natural like yamaslut or our boy bronson here (as it appears) that adapts to stuff very very quickly.

dont let it distract you or your focus, and you have to get right back up on the horse. thats the best advice i can give ya. ive already seen you throw some SWEET, high, slow rolls (which i think look the best), so i know u got it covered. you brought up wave selection before which is also extremely important and like mental strength/focus, needs to be talked about more. personally, i HATE boat wakes, and i'd rather roll off my own setup wake than a boat wake (most of the time, there ARE exceptions!!!).. i find boat wakes are too close together and too steep sometimes. but send a $1,000,000 40' sport fisher my way, and thats a different story.

you have the right attitude tim, and you have mroe than enough ability, you just need to go throught the motions of practice, time, and the occasional injury. oh, one more thing, you'll never catch me nigga... neva!!!! :aargh4:

mental strength, focus, commitment, spot your landing. that applies to 99% of the tricks out there!

That right there is a GREAT post and some really good advice.

Don't know if this will help any of you guys, but here's a clip of one from Havasu in 1999. It's more of a 3/4 roll that I rode out, but maybe there's something that will be helpful. Back then, I was doing them the same way Freestyleriverrat is doing them.

BTW, at that time, my boat was running a bored and ported 650 motor, so, as you'll see, there's not much height to it.

I never could figure out how I got it to spin so fast back then. Maybe it was from doing so many face augers.

Maybe try throwing your head into the roll more. In that clip, my head is way over to the left on take-off. Lead with your head and your arse will follow.

hope my new team scream cylinder yields me the same results. :)

i am positive you will not be dissapointed. What are you getting done to your cylinder and is it a 61x jug?

Yeah Steve is landing his rolls since the motor. Horsepower is a big help in learning this trick.

just to clarify a bit, that is Steve aka Lance Lakes not me.....i can't roll guys come on. I just posted the vid for him cause i think his phone lines are string and old soup cans which make his internet connection really slow. we got a bit more footage of Steve riding today which we will get posted for whoever cares. Congrats Steve on your Ski-Shack sponsorship bro! :headbang:

I used to wear a silicone ear plug in my right ear (3/4 side). It seemed to work great but it turns out I should have had bigger concerns. Now I wear a helmet :banghead:

I feel for ya but really that's nuthin. Unfortunately I wouldn't let anyone take a pic of mine. It was the third time this year (first w/o a helmet) so it starts to get kinda embarrassing you know? :irked: Can't wait to check out your helmet at the Rager!

I was super lucky that wasn't my teeth or my eye, thats for sure. I could squirt water through it though.
