Barbie Car Blaster

OH I forgot. I also did the single strut hood lift suggested by Desk_jockey in another member’s thread.

I used the lower hood prop boss for the hood bracket and drilled the hood seal rail for 3/16” rivets placing the ball 17” from the mounting face for the hood latch:

Works great, installs crazy easy. I drilled four holes. Two to increase the size of the bracket holes and two through the hood seal area. Bolt/rivet brackets in. Done. $60 solution.

Resealed the case halves tonight. New crank seals and new sealant. Bearings looked/felt good. Used the RSKI Riders video for a lot of the tips and tricks. The inside of the flywheel area was FILTHY, so it definitely needed it. Found that the bendix was missing a spring and a few washers, hopefully I can get those in hand by the weekend.

Well, the new graphics were printed today! I am very happy with them. Just enough color, plenty of white space left. The shop cut them out just like I wanted, no empty white space left on the graphics at all.

Nice job. I've towed my blaster a few times with my FR-S before I got my Santa Cruz. I made a gas can holder for the tongue of my trailer.

Thanks! It’s great how light these things are, probably one of the only watercraft besides a stand-up that I would be comfortable towing.

Thanks for showing your process through all of this. It really helped me in doing the bottom of my Blaster. It was my first time using a spray gun as well as doing gel coat. I ended up using about 3 quarts. 6% styrene and 2% MEKP same as you but with a 2.5mm tip. Man I had trouble getting it to lay down smooth. I left the bottom rough as well then wet sanded the sides of the hull smooth. Definitely makes me not want to spray the top with the amount of wet sanding involved. Maybe some duratec would help there with gelcoat being designed for use in a mold?

How is your Gelcoat over the hood parts holding up?
