Don't for one minute think that it cannot happen. It happened here,a bill was introduced to the state legislature to put a ban on boats over 36 ft or 250 hp.After a lot of controversy it passed, the boats that were already on Lake Martin were grandfathered in and received a special sticker but no more big or fast boats can be brought onto this lake.

A local lake near me, Lake Tarpon, used to have a real nice boat ramp at the north end of the lake which was perfect for jetskiiers. The neighbors near the ramp (which was in place when their houses were constructed) complained of the noise from the jetskiiers on the weekend, so the county shut the ramp down completely. During the week, the ramp was usually empty, with maybe 2-3 trailers in the lot at any given time. All it takes is just a few people to gripe, and the counties will jump. Especially if it's near election time for county seats.
There are some pretty fast boats on the lake, you have to keep your eyes open all the time for them. The most reckless people out there have got to be the pontoon boat guys or the guys on the smaller boats towing tubers around. They are too busy drinking/watching their friends on the tube so they don't look around at where they are driving.

As boating gets more and more popular they need to tighten the rules on who can get one, licenses, equipment checks, etc.

BANNING is an easy way out for them, it cost less money and requires less man power!!!

Damn activists, let's just kill off the population so the earth can line in peace.

Once the power boats are gone, then sail... then canoes, don't want to disrupt the swimmers who traumatize the fish.
