Bad day at the lake...

Went to the lake with 3 friends to wakeboard and jetski. started off ok till i got to wakeboarding. started of doing some small grabs getting warmed up then a few 180s. went for another 180 and bite the water VERY hard. lost like 2 hours worth of memory. very strange feeling, all of a sudden i realize im wakeboarding and i didnt know how i got there for a minute i remember a bit of riding and then bits and peices of before but it was soooo strange, felt like a dream. so i decided to take a break and ride my 550 had alot of fun on it sliding around and jumping wake (also did a few 180 sub things for the first time today) then i see my 3 friends flipped on the jet ski. i ride over and the tow rope is twisted around the shaft. so i ride back and grab the boat so i can tow it back, they couldnt all stay on long enough to tow with my 550. got bck and my phone was 4 inches under water. its shot now. and we flipped the ski upside down and i managed to get the rope out but it took on enough water to submerge the entire engine and everything around it easily. managed to scoop it all out with bowls (gotta get a bilge!) and now the ski wont start... got close a couple time but it wont do much. ne idea on how to fix that??
after all that i realized it is friday the 13th :(
had fun on the 550 while it lasted, im getting better fast, slides are so much fun

damn that seems like a ruff day indeed.

Do you think any water got into the moter through the carbs when it was upside down... i so pull the spark plugs and get a buddy to help you flif it upside down to drain out the water.. Fog it really good and get it running ASAP (i relize its midnight) but if you dont your crank is going to rust and be shot.

good news its no longer friday.

more good new: I just read that Friday the 13th is statistically safer than any other Friday.. odd isent it.

as a minumin i would try and drain the water out.. and spray fogging or WD-40 in it really really good

pull both plugs and hit the starter with it on its side, if you cant get anyone to flip it 100% upside down.

Cranks arnt cheep. maybe find one for ~200, and that would be a real cheepy.

Cross your fingers you did not bend your piston rod. last summer i bent mine when my boat sank and i tryed to start it with water in the engine...

good luck

PS: i though all the lake around their were bone dry????

jacksons pretty full, mabey down a foot max. its a georgia power lake so they dont have to let out water. lanier is required by law to let out x amount of water i believe so if it doesnt rain they get low. here they just fill 'er up from the rivers

also. if i managed to get it running tommorrow will i know if anything is bent? or will it even start if i got a bent piston?

I filled up my 750 last summer doing a fountain for too long.
Luckily, I didn't hydro-lock the motor, but unfortunately water got in through my vent tube into my gas tank, and we were 3 hours from home, so I couldn't get it fixed till the next day. I had to turn the ski on its side and pull the plugs and crank the motor over till all the water pumped out of my crank, which took about 45 mins. then, I had to dump a full tank of gas/water mix. But after some fresh gas, starting fluid, and a battery charger, I got it to fire up. Hell, I didn't even have to change my plugs! Yours doesn't sound as bad as mine, so you shouldn't have too much trouble.

You mean a "bent rod". Depending on the damage you might be able to start it, but you won't be able to ride it, the engine is going to totally grenade pretty quickly.
The odds of bending a rod are very low, I would not worry about that at this point. Get her to start (crank with the plugs off on her side, finger tight one plug and after she starts put the second plug in, tighten both the plugs properly), it might misfire or not "sound right" for a few seconds, then blip the throttle a couple of times. It should clear itself. Then hit the lake and give that girl some work out. If she's fine after 5-15 minutes, she's OK.

Well, got my phone to turn on when i woke up today which was cool. and then i went to the lake to see the ski. took out the plugs and hit the started which blew alot of water out. fogged it like 5 times and put the plugs in after each time to try and fire it up. finally it started but died after 5 seconds. i fogged it again and got it fired, i let it idle for a minute or so and took it out for a spin. seems to run perfect now and i put some new ngk plugs in to seal the deal.

My rod bent and it bent far enough that it hit the crank webbing so the motor wouldnt even turn over
