b pipe coupler torque

it always seems that i either tighten my coupler too tight and it ends up ripping it, or not tightening it enough and pops off.

is there a torque spec on the chamber/headpipe coupler?

No torque spec (except not going so tight as to strip the teeth on the stainless clamp band). I think you may have an alignment problem. Position the headpipe and chamber without the coupler on and see if they butt together smoothly/uniformly. If one is at an angle to the other (due to misplacement of fuel tank, water box height, or other obstruction) you will get the problems that you are seeing. Good luck.
