XjCrawler and I are planning a trip down to California ish area we flat water riders, We watch some of the posted videos and laugh about getting scared because the biggest waves we see are 2ft and 2ft apart.
Does anybody have any suggestions on stops we should take for either surf in Washington or flat water along the way, We will be crossing the US border at Sweetgrass MT, We are planning around August.

If you want to drive through Washington/Oregon, some of us Northwesterners could accomodate you.
Late August we'll have the Grayland Open Freeride competition in Grayland, Washington.

Its 1 Day 5 Hours according to Google maps, This is the fastest route but if we were going to kick over to Washington for a few days the total driving time would be 1day 12 hours

You would definately want to hit Grayland, WA.. Try for a weekend so we can get our group together to go out with you if the dates weren't the same as the Grayland Open... Check the website for it for links to pics and videos and info.. www.graylandopen.com

And Tierra Del Mar would be good too since you have to be back home before Surf Slam... It is in Pacific City, Oregon... Usually the Portland area riders hit that on some weekends..

Those times are not right, they assume you don't eat, pee, or rest.........lol.
if it's possable we will make it, take 12 hour driving shifts while the other sleeps, us being with good riders in the surf will be like a fat kid in a candy store! The only reason for the trip is to ride in the surf, and come home alive lol

if you guys could post dates with events that would be great!

So the tentative dates are departing the night of Aug 6 and returning Aug 19-20 (Sister is getting married on the 21st) If there are any suggestions for pit stops, or anything else thinking about swinging by WDK and or The Ski Clinic, i dunno... I was 13 last time I was in the USA

Well it sounds like you need to try and be in the Grays Harbor/Aberdeen/Grayland area the weekend before you head back home(the 13-15th).. That is the Grayland Open Freeride Amatuer Nationals weekend.. We ride Fri - Sunday with the actual competition on Saturday.. Maybe head straight for Cali then ride your way back up at different stops..

so where exactly are you trying to go?
No Clue,Our only plan is Grayland 13-15 other then that we just are planning to get lots of surf riding it will be the fist time ever in the surf and probably a year before we get to try it out again, Unless some how we can make it to Daytona. It would be cool to meet up with some real surf riders, there are only two of us up here....

5' waves would be sick! probably nothing to you guys
Is there a Surf 101? does and donts? how many waves is usually in a set? In falt water it seems like every 3rd wave is bigger then the rest

that depends on the swell. hard to tell until you watch a couple sets. the swells usually start to get smaller for the summer about now. just bring a tow rope, limiting rope. stock flame arresters and a big set of balls

Power...Will not be a problem, I'm Running a ported 701 with all the fixens, and xj is running a 5mm stoker with all the fixens
And Ill replace balls with stupidity ha ha
So a swell is a "set"?
