if you need a set of seals I have a new set. I can get them to you somehow just replace them over the winter at some point.

So I checked compression 175/180 and hooked a vacuum pump to it and it held 8lbs for 8 minutes straight. So now I have no idea which way to go.

You may have pulled the wire back away from the plug ends. Try removing the plug caps, trimming the wires 1/4" & put thecaps back on tight. Also try new plugs.

did you check the stator plate? I had one break a screw and move around, Pete had this happen last year too.
What about looking for small leak in the waterbox? I had one with a small leak in a weld and it would only open up once it got hot then close back up by the time i got back to the ramp and took the hood off. it took me a week to find it.

re: what skidaddy said. if cutting them back you find the wires are shot I have an extra coil that i know works if you want to try it.

If you pull the plugs & ground them on the head is the spark strong & consistent at cranking speed? (make sure the plugs are out, don't just use another set so you get more RPM)

Just reread your posts. From experience I'm thinking it's the stator. When I sent mine to JSS he found one of the wires was broken but the ends still butted together, still made contact, so it would break up when running w/the vibration. :banghead:

See if you can check resistance on the stator, or swap out temporarily with a buddies.

I would say either coil like others have mentioned or something in your carbs needs adjustment. If it ran away, that's usually a sign of a lean condition. Try richening it up with the low screw.
