I may have better luck here.

I have a 38mm Mikuni SBN carb, intake manifold, adapter and FA coming shortly for my 650 X2, along with a Westcoast pipe and milled GroupK head. I cannot find anything as far as jetting/settings for the 38mm. Plenty of info for the 44mm. Does anyone have a suggestion, a starting place?

I already have aftermarket grate, rideplate and SS prop. About to chop 1.5'' off the back. Thiking of replacing the WC ride plate with the stocker and D cutting it. This should be a fun summer. Thanks for the help.

interesting. ive never seen a single 38mm mikuni manifold for the kawi 650.

are you sure youre getting a manifold for a MIKUNI 38 and not a KEIHIN 38?

also, are you sure the manifold youre getting is even for a 38 and not a 44?

what brand is it? did you get pics of the stuff prior to buying?

not doubting you... its just that this is a first for me.

So long and thanks for all the fish

440's used to come with a single 38 BN, not a SBN. If it's truly a single 38 SBN, then you're going to be in uncharted territory really.

The only advice I can give is a thumbrule that Herb Kane from Mikuni said and that was 38's like ~210 total jetting, so maybe start at 90 low 120 hi and go from there.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Jon at jetskihaven is selling me these. I just called him. They don't match as stated above. The carb will not fit the intake.

He is sending me 44mm SBN at no extra charge! I didn't ask for anything discounted, he just saw his errror and hooked me up $60 for the carb. I bought some other items as well. He definately has my business for future purchases. Thanks Jon, and thank you guys for catching this.

My westcoast pipe has 4 fittings. 2 in back, one bigger than the other. One on top/front and one down by the stinger. The stock unit has two in front, one larger than the other. The little one was the pisser. Bigger one came off the head. Then one in back that ran out the back off the hull.

How do I hook the WC up?

My thoughts:
From the head to the larger fitting in back?
From the top/front fitting to the stinger fitting (a T to the pisser)?
How about the little fitting in back?
What about the line coming in from the hull (in back)? Is this a drain, is it used?

Help

EDIT: WB got me fixed up. All done.

Actually pjs used to make for a short while for the 38mm mikuni round body. The 44 round body was a liitle more touchy to tune so the 38 was a good improvement over the 28 mm keihin. The ticket was to use the correct 2.5 needle and seat with the viton tip and the solid stem and the correct gold colored spring for the round body. If you had a pipe then you drilled the main to 50 thou and set the high to 1.5 turns out the lows normally 1 and a 1/4.
The small fitting on the wescoast pipe was when tim trombley added the water a little later in the pipe but this was done mostly when you ran their limited cones which were extended welded cones. They then later made a pattern for the longer limited cones and those were not welded. Those were smooth and did not have the ridges for shortening the cone. Contrary to what most believe the pipes worked better with longer cones but running them fairly dry. The dryer pipe sped up the sonic wave but the longer tuned length helped them come out of the hole much better. This applied even on most mods.
