Are 61x and 62t headgaskets interchangeable?

If they are both 701's I believe they are identical, as the bore is the same.

Depends on the stock head year, the 62T gasket is for late 701's with the bridged water jacket holes, and can be on the early heads. The 61X gasket can only work on the early head as the cooling hole in the 61x gasket is right where the newer late head is bridged on the waterjacket hole and would block it off completely.

You can drill holes through the gasket if you get stuck with the wrong one. Always pay attention to water passage alignment especially with aftermarket heads.

I don't believe there are any aftermarket heads being manufactured today that uses a stock headgasket! All new aftermarket heads now use o-rings for sealing as a headgasket.
