Funny, I always though freestyle was going out and doing tricks... did not know that there were tricks that only Amatures could do and then seperate tricks that only Pro's could do..........

Bottom line, why you judging by only tricks showed in the pics, I would say there were more tricks pulled off than pics posted.......

there is a difference.... some tricks are harder then others, such as a back flip which i hear only harvell could pull off... if someone goes out and does a backflip a long with an alright routine and not loosing the boat, they shoul dbe ranked much higher. Its not about the amount of tricks, but the difficulty of them..

Also, that is why i asked for video.

They tied in the 2 minute routine, in the tie breaker, Parr came out with a better routine.............

ask your self this question....... You are a judge......... 2 guys go....

1st. competitor goes out and tries all these huge tricks but really does not shine on any of them or does not cleaning complete the tricks........

2nd. competitor goes out and does not attempt some of the same tricks but the ones he does do he pulls them off cleanly.............

Who should win??

I give it to the guy who goes big, even if he didn't complete them good...

it depends how big the tricks are... that is why i was asking... from the pictures it looks like he was going huge. I asked for a video which would in turn end the arguing... it seems like you would rather argue though

Is it an arguement or a debate or a discussion???????...............

The judging of all freestyle at every regional to national even is and has been screwed up............. There is NO JUDGING CRITERIA what so ever..... it falls down to personal opinion of mostly untrained/inexperienced judges....... I have been to events where I competed and watched the judges....... 1 was a former World Champion, the other two judges just judged exactly the way the first judge went.......... oh, did I mention the other 2 judges were about 10 years old each??

as far as those pics go they dont really tell you anything..... Shows John doing a possible back flip....... Shows Parr doing what could be a flat water flair??? Which is it? Which is a harder trick??

personally the flair has me stumped, have you tried one? Talk about really getting your coordination all screwed up just trying one!!!!!!!!

I always thought it was

1. number of tricks attempted
2. degree of difficulty
3. how well each trick was performed
4. how well each trick flowed into each other.
5. showman ship of each competitor (Freestyle is a show)
6. innovation.

(None of these are in any particular order)

I'm not sure how this affects the conversation, but the few chances I've had to judge
I gave 1 point for a simple trick (hood)
2 for an extremely difficult hood trick
2 for a clean roll - 1 for a 3/4 - 3 for a good double trouble
2 for a standard clean Arial trick - 1 for a good attempt
I would score a backflip as a 3, or the BF twist - a 4 if they let a foot or hand go
If they pulled a clean combo BF to a twist I would double that (6)

Which I believe helps the guy with 13 hood tricks, and credits the crazy dude doing the 1 handed twist into a 1 footed backflip.

Once everyone has ran, total the scores and the winner gets the girls ....I mean gets the gold  jm2c

IMHO, you are gonna need say 5 or 7 judges

throwout the low score and the high score and that will give you the score

as for choosing judges

1 stand up rider
1 sport rider
1 runabout rider
1 pro freestyler (judging am. freestyle)
1 am freestyler (judging pro freestyle)
2 random people from the crowd

but then again what do i know.... i just ride a couch
