Super Jet Anyone have trouble with Thrust Footholds install? RN SJ

I installed a set of thrust footholds over the winter on my 97 Superjet and really have been wondering if they have a crappy fitment, or if it was just my install. I cut the hole smaller than needed and slowly kept shaving away fiberglass until they "fit". However I never could really get them to line up right even with heat and using self tapping screws to try to manipulate them. The right side turned out ok, but the left side was bad in my opinion. With the way the lip is on them I don't see how you could possibly fiberglass over them on the "gunwale" section and then hydro turf them with any type of good looking results.

I realize footholds are something that require some "finesse" but I dont see how these could have been installed and actually turned out looking nice due to how they wrap around the gunwale on the angled section going down.

They were nice quality other than the fitment issue.

There's nothing finesse about foothold installs. In my experience most are like that and that's why using rivets are much better

I agree with the rivet idea, the wamilton ones I put in my fx1 didn't fit right an required a lot of grinding an a box of rivets. Came out sweet an I love those holds out of all that I've tried.

Thats why I put finesse in quotes...I know there is nothing easy about it. I even tried using rivets...but the stuff was so far off that it would pull the rivets out. Maybe the rivets just werent long enough.

I have installed other brands of footholds before...and those all went flawlessly...matter of fact they were even cheaper brands or knock offs.

Sounds like Thrust just made a cr@py fit on those. I have installed quite a few sets of holds and XFT took the most work to make fit properly but they are also a fully enclosed hold.
