Anyone have any experience with a Polaris Genesis?

Jerry I would stay off of any lake that still allows a Polaris on the water. The injected Genesis has problems with stators and ECMs. The last ECM I replaced was almost 2 years ago, and then it was around $1200 for the part alone. Polaris realized they couldn't be a profitable competitor and bailed on the market back in 2004. If it goes anything like Tigershark then the price of the available parts will be directly related to the supply on hand. Manufacturers still in business are required to keep parts available for 10 years after ceasing to manufacture and sell equipment, but this is a free market and there is nothing that says at what price they must sell these parts. Therefore the lower these manufactures get on a part, the higher the price goes...usually so high that no one will buy it and they maintain availability on that part. It is much cheaper for them to "eat" a few parts than to pay a vendor to produce another run of them.

In the 4 seat market Yamaha had the SUV and Seadoo the LRV (I believe it was.) My pic would be an older WaveVenture.

I really wish you posted this when I made an offer on a 2004 Octane a few weeks ago. The thread turned ugly, most of the posts got deleted, I got an infraction... and I think that the Octane is still there... and no, it is not a "free bump" for that Octane.

Back on topic, LRV (951 engine) or SUV (1200 PV engine), the Doo handled better if you care about any kind of "handling" with this kind of vessel.
The Yamaha was more reliable and could be made bulletproof since it had the same GPR1200 motor popular in the speed record breaking community.
Both models are rarity today.

I had a Polaris 785Pro that was about as close to bomb proof as I've ever seen on a ski. and I know, that it was an anomolly for the marque. but, there you have it. I loved my polaris so much I had no problem at all plunking down the ching for an 04 octane recently.

my thoughts on this are simple. if you NEED a 3 seat or bigger PWC... get a boat.

Can't. A boat wouldn't fit on our trailer. They're too wide.

We're not ditching the camper and the stand-up for a boat, so we're stuck looking for skis.

We got a sweet setup for out trailer with the camper on front and 2 skis in back. 'Redneck toy hauler', I've heard it called before. :lmao:

I had one in a while back, the cdi box went out on it,someone had installed a box and not grounded it properly, actually I was kind of impressed with the performance of that ski,it handled well for a big ski and is much lighter that the other four seaters,it wasn't ungodly fast but it had plenty of power,it was a much better ski that the Yamaha fx 140 I had ridden a week earlier.
