i just started my build on my 84' js rebuild

things to add:
-tubbies{just started}
-footholds{done}
-milled head{on}
-hull reenforcements{1/4 done}
and some other things..

i was wondering if anyone else has tried this, and if so..
what else would be good to look in to doing to the ski?

im already planning to put either a yamaha 144mm pump or a kawi 650 pump in the ski..

and i might even put a 701 or 750 engine into it eventually.

any advice/input is appreciated.
thanks guys

hopin this ski turns out to be a headturner :fingersx:

check out fearlessnuts build, i think he has the best 550 build yet, my wife did a hood mod on hers where she took off the snorkel, glassed it over & put the intake in the back of the hood, have no problems with the engine starving for air, & she has no need for an electric bilge pump or scupper anymore, the stock siphon can keep up with the little bit that comes in

it's not the best ever, but I really love riding it. I've had many issues related to electrical problems & general stupidity since the conversion, but I hope that I have finally got the bugs worked out.

Don;t use a paper gasket on the carb... :icon16:

I also plan on making the pole substantially tighter soon...

550 Freestyle

Custom made air scoops/handholds + extra handholds, footholds...to be continued.

sorry I have no build thread since I am very new to fiberglass work, but it was fairly simple and I was surprised how it all came, its not finished all the way still rough but it definatly has best functionality with best looks.

My advice in starting a hood or any fiberglass project is PATIENCE...it requires a lot of patience going thru all the curing process stages.

If you want any more input on how I made it I will be more than happy to give you detailed input.

man, its cool to see so many people ridin the old 550's!
ive been ridin mine since i was about ten i think..

ive always kept up with everyone else, and personally id rather have one of these than a superjet thats twice as heavy :veryhappy:

me and my dad are gonna start on makin a fully custom, 701 powered 550 after we get some more cash flow in

im hoping i can make mine rip with a 701 and a 144mm pump set up.

only time will tell! :bananapowerslide:
