Super Jet any tips on removing drive coupler

it appears that the drive coupler is "threaded" onto the end of the crankshaft. I've been using a 3 foot breaker bar in conjunction with a chain wrench and nothings happening. Is the coupler reverse threaded or something? "Left to loose" right...??? Do I need to put heat to it? any ideas???

When I had to do it, my coupler was shattered.
Ended up using a dremel to cut thru it.....very carefully.....don't wanna damage the threads on the crank. Got it thin enough to where it broke off.
Tried all else prior. It's a biotch.

It's regular thread, not reverse. You need to stop the crank from rotating. You can do it with a rope in the rear cylinder or an actual block tool. Cold Fusion sells them.
Heat the coupler with a torch, then put an ice cube on the crank behind it if you can. Use a breaker bar and it should come off.
Go easy with the torch, you don't want to burn the crank seals.

Follow up on the coupler removal. First, it's hard to see in my picture, but there is an orange shop rag jammed in my exhaust port stopping the cylinder/crank from moving. It's just that I couldn't get the motor stabalized enough anywhere to put any ass to the breaker bar and chain wrench. What I ended up doing was this. placed a wide board on the floor next one of the metal support beams in my garage. Placed the motor on the board (as to not bust up the bottom of the case on the concrete floor) and oriented the exhaust ports toward the support beam. I placed a towel between the motor and beam (as to not guage the aluminum). I asked my wife to place her foot against the bed plate at the opposite end of the coupler and I put the 3 foor breaker bar and chain wrench on the coupler. A coupler of hard pulls and she broke free. Essentially it was all about getting a motor in a position that it wasn't flopping all around the place.

Now it's time to send everything down to Jetmaniac/Blue for a 781 Big Bore treatment :wiggle:
