I'm just pointing out the differences based on my experience. No need for haters. Keep in mind that the BOB is cheaper that the Vision.
BOB - Fit and Finish
---------------------
I think the boat looks good from the exterior as far as paint and turf goes but once I started building it out I noticed fittment issues with stock parts that are supposed to "bolt right up." For Example, there was like a quarter inch gap between my rideplate and hull where it meets the intake grate. I also did not like the interior. It's like the fiberglass was sprayed in leaving it jagged edges everywhere. I cut, poked, and scraped my hands numerous times during the build... Even the DNR officer pricked his finger when inspecting the boat when I went to get my HIN number
Vision - Fit and Finish
------------------------
I can tell Steve has been doing composite work for quite some time based on the build progress photos. The turf looks great and the carbon on the inside is definately a nice touch as well. The carbon on the hood is layed up perfectly. There's no wavy spots or anything. The only thing I can wish for would be more/better options for paint like metalic flake or extra gel coat. I think the paint on mine could have been a tad better in some areas but you have to be looking hard for the imperfections. I know he had to send my hood back to the guy that gel-coated it at one point to fix some drip marks but at least he told me about it and got it sorted.
BOB - Assembly
---------------
Went together but with a fight. I've built/rebuilt tons of superjets and building that boat just pissed me off. I had to grind down brand new parts (which I expected from reading other threads) but I didn't think I would have to grind as much as I did if that makes sense. The engine bay isn't that big so its a tight fit and getting to some of the bolts is a real pain and some you had to do completely blind. I felt if something ever broke on it I would have completely dis-assemble to fix it.
Vision - Assembly
------------------
Went together literally in a night. All parts matched up perfectly. It was truly like building a superjet. Only thing (and probably my fault) was not taking notice on how to block off the trim tube. The engine bay area is huge and you can put the stock gas tank straight in. The only bolt that is kind of a pain to get to is one of the ebox bolts behind the headpipe. Kinda have to do a reach around to get to it. The only other thing was kind of a pain was the tubes for the hose lines. They are a little bigger and I had to bust out the heat gun to get my lines on. Not a huge deal just would have bought different hose.
BOB - Ride
------------
I don't know where to start but I felt like there was just too much wrong. The boat is light and flickable if your playing by yourself lol, but its not a good all around boat. I felt like the BOB was made to do one thing and one thing only... Backflip. It seemed to take forever to get on plane. Once it was on plane that bulb that sticks further down in the front of hull caused it to porpoise like crazy. My lake is pretty busy and we have boats that produce 6 foot wakes. This boat couldn't handle the chop very well on a busy day at all and I found it difficult to chase down the cruisers. Every wake I tried to jump the boat wanted to backflip. Just trying to cross the lake was pain unless the water was calm. I also personally hated the footholds. I never felt secure in them and could never find the perfect adjustment for them. The front of the tray is shaped like a box and my foot came loose from the hold and my knee rammed right into the top corner of that boxed shaped tray. I decided I didn't want to to that again.
Vision - Ride
--------------
I absolutely love the way this hull rides. I've never owned a RN but when I ride them I feel like my SN rides a little more sloppy but I like that. I feel like this hull is super responsive but has some of that sloppiness in it. You can turn it on a dime and still slide it out when you want. I was little nervous about the -4 causing the ski to porpoise but with the +4 rideplate it gets and stays on plane quick. I rode this hull across the lake without any issues and can chase down boats with ease. It has the traditional footholds as well as a front foot hold. And like I said in a previous post the learning curve is minimal. I feel right at home on this hull.
Overall
---------
My goal was to a have a light weight boat that didn't require 6 foot waves/wake to backflip, roll, etc.. I want to progress my riding abilities but use what's available to me. Mainly wakeboard boats, at times the big cruisers, and occaisonally surf trips. At the same time I didn't want a flatwater boat either. I knew the BOB was mainly a flatwater boat before buying it but thought I could get away with it on my lake based on videos I watched and threads I read. That is not the case (for me). I feel like the vision is better for all the conditions I ride.
