300/440/550 Another JS300 question

Ok so completely new to the jet ski world. Friend of mine picked up a 91 kawasaki 650 stand up and we ride it mainly on a river about 700 feet wide, so i went and picked up a 300 for cheap, rode it today and in this confined space it does surprisingly well against the 650.

Anyways I have been researching on this forum and have read lots of references to 300sx's and js 300's. i was wondering what the difference was between these. Also on some parts sites they reference two models: JS300-A SX, and JS300-B. Just wondering the difference for these two.

On the hull of my ski its: JS300AE020206 and engine is:KAW82583E787. I'm assuming this means its a 1987 JS300.

Also does anyone know what is a normal compression # for this engine would be great.
Any help on clarifying these things would be great.

Thanks

it is not hard to tell the difference the js 300 looks just like a 440 550 hull. the 300 sx looks like a smaller 650 sx. if i rememmber correctly the 300 sx came out the same year as the 650 sx, 1987 i think.
