Am I really that naive?

I'm hoping to do some porting work with the sport port templates soon and knew I would eventually need new rings for that job. Well when my head gasket blew out, I figured this would be the perfect time to go ahead and order "a new set" of rings...that way I'd save on shipping.

Got everything in the mail and opened the box and I have two rings... Do they really only sell piston rings as a "piston set"?? I figured at $27 for a couple pieces of sheet metal, "a set of rings" would be an engine set....not a piston set.

If that's really true...WTF is the point of buying rings for only one piston??

Just like pistons come in single, a set of rings do too.

All the pistons I've seen come in a set...Unless of course that set means 1 piston too.

Ehh I'm just pissed off that kind of thing is indicated anywhere. Definately seems like tribal knowledge among engine builders.

Thanks for the help guys.

My catalogs list pistons seperatly or if you wish you can buy a top end kit with two p[istons, two ring sets and a top end gasket set,I have never seen them list pistons as a set though,a lot of guys on Ebay do list pistons as a set.

A piston set is one piston, rings, wrist pin, and circlips.
