Going over my ski for daytona I found the little rubber nose cone is gone. (I have a solas concord 13/17). Who sells the aluminum ones or rubber ones? You guys have any preference. I never had any problems with the rubber ones.
The rubber POS always comes out for me, even if glued in.
The Pro cones work great, they have a little allen set screw that locks it in, just put a bit of blue loctite on it..
Thats cause its has a more hydro-dynamic shape than the rubber one. Plus, the rubber one flexes under pressure and flattens out causing blockage of flow.
Well all BS aside, I asked about the nose boot a couple years ago and it's effects. I was told that the boot only makes a difference in flow at higher rpms. Even not having one at low speed has very little effect. I have no numbers to back this up but I thought it would go well as an FYI in this thread.
Thanks for the replies and entertainment. I found a rubber ..... one laying around so thats whats going on. I was just excited about spending money on an aluminum one. Well back to getting my ski ready that is going to run into the last minute again. uch:
Try removing the aluminum ones after a few months of saltwater use.
Stick with the rubbers, you'll never feel the difference or ever see the damned thing anyways.
