Other Air leaks after rebuild

I just got my engine back together and pressure tested it. Base gasket is leaking bad on both ends of the cylinder (front/rear) but seems to be sealed along the sides. I also have a very slight leak out of the rear seals, which are brand new OEM's. I've been patient so far with this build, but it seems like everything is fighting me and seeing this was really frustrating.
What do you guys think about pulling the cylinder and adding some 1211 to the base gasket? And as far as the crank seals, how often do brand new OEM seals leak. Will they ever completely seal up? I was able to build about 7psi with my "Mity Vac" before I couldn't overcome the base gastet leak.

where are the seals leaking, crank to seal or seal to case? I use some oil on the inside of the seal and you can use the 1211 to seal it all up but shouldnt need to, apply some waterproof grease or the red gasket sealer from permatex. of couse you are using a good torque wrench and tightening the bolts properly?

Def use a good water proof grease in the seal helps it not only seal but also helps longevity.
As far as the base gasket leaking, I would take real care to the cylinder locating dowels and the holes they go in. If any of these are dirty or have old grim in or around the hole it will not allow the cylinder to set as it should. With a new base gasket 1211 or any sealer should not be nessasary!

The leak in the seals is between the crank/seal. They were packed with grease prior to installing. I spoke with Art at Jetworks and he advised I try a real thin layer of 1211 on the base gasket. I will take an extra look to make sure all surfaces are clean and double check the locating dowels. Thanks for the responses guys.
