Aftermarket Waterbox Installation

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a TDR waterbox to go with my Factory B Pipe. I installed the waterbox with no issues but noticed that the sled was not performing very well. It was not going into higher RPMs. It was running like it was a fuel tune issue. Does the water box need to be at a certain elevation when installed? Just curious because the TDR box is significantly smaller than the OEM box. I have stock 38 mm carbs as well, so could they need to be re-jetted?

Looking for your expertise.

Thanks,

Ben

Waterbox shouldn't make much of a difference.. Was this the only thing you changed? Just the waterbox?

Yeah, it's literally a cover swap. I mean it does have a second opening for more air, but I wouldn't think it would change that much.

The second opening could be causing a greater flow of air to the carburetors, that would lean it out some. Its a possibility but not likely that is your entire problem.

The smallest exhaust leak will make it run bad. Ride it with the hood propped open for a quick test. Also make sure the feet of the box are sitting on rubber or else they will eat a hole through the hull. I make the hoses squeaky clean and install them wet with RTV.
