aftermarket pump shoes?

How many of you use aluminum pump shoes? pros/cons? And for those who don't, if they were less expensive would you get one?

My .02

Pros- don't break as easily.... Intake grate bolt holes are stronger (dont break out of the plastic)

Cons- don't fit as well?? Need grinded or shaped sometimes to fit snugg...

If they where not so expensive yes I would buy one!

I have broke two plastic ones on my ski in 4 years.. and the current one on the ski is broke....

con HUGE fitment issues. my jd(im not 100%) was alot thicker and set the pump back i had to oval out the holes in the pump to get it to fit!

Replacing a pump shoe sucks, so I went aluminum so I'll never have to do it again. My JD only needed a slight amount of 'customization'.

Would I put in an aluminum one simply as a mod? No. Would I put one in because my crappy stocker broke, absolutely.

i have a JD one in mine.

jumped a boat wake this year and after i landed, half my pump shoe went missing?


it doesnt really fit right, i had to grind and make the holes bigger.

but like everyone else has said, its indestructible:shooter3: unlike the plastic stocker

not a bad price i got two for 175. about 85 bucks is piece of mind for me

Lasts well, but the JD one is a total pain to install. I had to grind LOTS of material off it to make it work.
Protrudes a bit deeper than OEM, I feel improvement in the hook-up. Would I just put one in for performance gains? No way!

I have one on my XFT. They are not indestructible! Mine has a crack between the bolt holes. On the upside...I will have it welded and grind it back down flat. It still works just fine. I have replaced 3 stock plastic ones over the years. When they have gone cavitation is bad.

mine didnt really have any fitment issues. just used some taps with a hammer to slide it in. idk if it makes any difference performance wise at all tho.

expensive? a plastic OEM from DGY.com is $54.15 while an aluminum from Blowsion is $87.85. If you have already broken a stock pump shoe I would imagine the chances of breaking another one is high. Therefor buying the Aluminum pump shoe from Blowsion would be cheaper in the long run.

EDIT: after breaking an OEM shoe I am now running the blowsion alum shoe. Some grinding was needed but not that much. After having a pump shoe break on me on a WOT run (it scared the poop out of me) I will always do aluminum

I didn't have any fitment issues with mine either. So long as you do a good job cleaning out the old one your golden. You have to use a thin bead of 5200on the hull and install the pump before it sets up. I stuck the 5200 in a tub of hot water before installing it so it would be easier to manage. Give it time to set remove the pump and hit up the gaps with 5200 and tighten the screws. They are easy to remove too, just put some tension on it with a rachet strap and hit it up with a heat gun and they pop right out.

I would install one if I had a chance. If the stocker decides to quit you will lose your intake grate and posibly pump components too if you suck up whats left. Its happened to me and a buddy.

IMHO- just get the blowsion aluminum pump shoe- it's only around 80 something dollars. May have to do a little grinding.

my stocker broke and the pull down from my intake grate ripped it off the front holes in the hull too. so i think that even though they are 80 bucks and a pain in the ass i wish i had done it sooner, would have saves me about 200 dollars on intake grate/inserts to fix the hull.

IMHO- just get the blowsion aluminum pump shoe- it's only around 80 something dollars.

Plus the popular Blowsion "shipping and handling" fees. :ugh2:
