its been a blast.. i got te SJ in may and have been riding it all summer... my only regret is not getting one (a standup ) sooner.

this winter i need to add some things to the SJ, first ill need new grips.. no problem on those.. but i do realize i need some kind of support to pull the ski up.

i know everyone loves to install footholds, but i dont got the balls to cut my SJ open myself.. i was trying to find another option.. i saw these molded sides on blowsion?

http://blowsion.com/detail.asp?PRODUCT_ID=YA96UP470

do these serve the same purpose ? can you get a little grip with your feet under these ?

with that , are theier any other options ?

thanks !

You can do it, just cut it. THe hardest part is drilling the first hole. After that its game on. Maybe dont listen to me, I just like cutting stuff up.

way more intimidating is an understatment...

id rank it up there with triple bypass heart surgery... !

hah LOL. Well if I wasnt 800 miles away, I would do it for you. Its easy to cut a hole in someone elses ski. Thats it, just find someone to cut the hole when youre not looking. Then you have no choice but to keep going and do the install.

Yeah, not really. If you've ever actually cut into a living thing, you would see that inanimate is not such a big deal, only feels that way the first time. G'head, you can do it.

:haha: My wife is also a vet who prefers emergency surgery. I hear similar statements all the time.

Of course I have to remind her, that according to her books, everything in the animal is color coded so it shouldn't be that hard. :chairfall:

Sure, come on over sometime, I'll let you read the book and then show you the inside of the animal and see how you feel about it then! :15: :eek5:

Let me tell you, the first time I actually cut into a live animal is a creepy feeling even though you've been preparing yourself for it for YEARS. Watching most surgeons/vets it looks soooo easy, but the first time YOU'RE the one doing the surgery? It suddenly turns you into a complete klutz no matter how much you've practiced with your instruments before hand.

Even now, there's always that little bit of extra tension at the start of a non-routine surgery that lets you know you're alive. Guess I'm a bit of an adrenaline junky in many ways, I also like emergency work, just don't do as much as I once did. Hours of boredom followed by moments of terror is the usual with emergency work. I've even gotten a full nights sleep on some emergency shifts, can't beat that, getting paid to sleep!

Sorry, thread jack over. Back to jetskis.

I have a set I'll sell you cheap! They are definitely not equivalent to footholds though. You will be able to get a little lift with them but I would not recommend getting inverted with so little grip.

I'd spend 15 bucks on a set of hydroturf lifters before those...but seriously, a set of footholds is what you need. I know the thought of cutting is tough but find a local board member to help you and go for it you'll be glad you did. I may be wrong but I think pete jacobs is close to you, believe he goes by legdragger if I am not mistaken.

Dude, get some foot holds, they are cheap & rip the turf off then cut away. It is going to happen sooner or later to that ski, it is its desteny as an SJ PERIOD.
