I say just dump the whole cable, lever idea and make a good CO2 trim system.

You can purchase a stainless steel Bimba air cylinder with a built in return spring for about 30 ~ 45 bucks. Then you will need a small paintball gun co2 canister with a 12 ~ 24 VDC Humphrey air valve for about 20 bucks. The rest would be easy, a 1/8" plastic air line with some compression fittings and a momentary switch with some wiring and some custom fabricated mounting brackets.

get to it and let me know how it works out!

Tektro XL750 looks like a good one actually, 2 finger design, I may contact them to find which ones have the longest throw.

Well, I did contact them and got a reply.

Thank you for your inquiry. Could you show me a picture about longest throw ? Also, sorry, I do not have idea about jetski trim, please give me more description or picture about it.

They are based in Taiwan so we may have some communication barriers. She did copy that to 2 other people at Tektro, so maybe they will answer.

i was thinking and companies are saying they get 30-35 degrees of throw but that not under a load. So do they really get that much while your riding? Cause from all the pressure you would think it would only get like 15-20 degrees from the cable stretching. Unless they are using some high strength cable that doesnt stretch.

One of my friends I race with, who also freestyles, has a trim lever with a MASSIVE hook in it, so you can pull the lever quite some distance. Ill ask him where he got it.

I think that with a lever with a greater pull/distance from the bar, you should find your answer.

the cable came in today. the end woth the ball (or barrel deosn't have threads. is that wrong? the other end is just a bare cable end. he sent me another part that has an allen screw in it. is that for the bare cable end? I'm so lost. :banghead:

Both ends of the cable housing should have a threaded end to screw into your lever and to put 2 nuts(included from Terrycable) on after you make your bracket for down by the pump.
The bare cable clamps down on the trim ring control arm however you decide to do it. I did mine like Mark44 with the plate and dremeled 2 grooves. See his pics posted. That allen wrench and end piece with allen screw you dont use.
Think I answered your questions. It was a bitch setting up mine from scratch too. Until you actually do it, you think its cake. lol

You'll get most throw too by putting your bare end cable lower down on the trim ring control arm. So that when its pulled tight your cable line is pulled straight inline with the housing opening. Hope that makes sense.

You can use the bare cable end on the trim ring mounting and the ball end on the lever if you use a barrel adapter.

You can purchase the cable end barrel adapter from Pro-Tec for $1.95 part number A11-9455-10.

Also you may want to check you local bike shops for the adapter.

I wanted to see that part but dont see it on this page:

Am i missing something??!
They don't show that part in the picture but it's a nickel plated cable adapter for the ball end of the cable to barrel end that fits inside the lever.

The Pro-Tec cable has a ball on one end and a lead barrel on the other.

Also the Pro-Tec cable has an adjuster near the lever end which makes it worth the extra money.

I think my problem was I ordered it with the part no. and I specifically asked if it had a bike lever end. he may have thought I was asking a variation of the normal trim cable.
