300/440/550 Advice needed!! 550/650 conversion or pro mod 750?

Whats up jet ski guys i need some advice ASAP!

i currently own a stock 1999 js550 and a 1994 750sx non running

js550
- stock

750sx
- front: 210psi rear: 190psi
- MRD Fuel Injection
- MSD total loss with Programmer II
- Full skat trak pump
- MSD Twist head
- welded and trued cranks
- custom hull reinforced
- sponged gas tank
- completely custom JetPro pipe
- Pj's eBox

Now the 750 had a faulty negative terminal that broke off while i was riding resulting in the loss of my coil and most likely my obsolete total loss system. all my parts are from the 90's raced by a racer who broke his foot then moved onto sit down racing. it was built by a Kawasaki mechanic and its a lot of a race boat for me.. prices of parts add up to around $3000

i got offered by a huge jet ski enthusiast who knows every but about stand ups their is and their history to convert my 550 to a nice reliable 650 conversion with mild mods and tuned ready to go with minor hull reinforcing.. worth around $2000 when set and done. all i have to do is give him my 750 as is.

ADVICE NEEDED: Should i spend the money and fix the 750? im not too good with constant maintenance and tune ups.. or give him my ski and have him covert my 550 to a 650.. he said i should have very reliable ski and fast (good power to weight ratio). thats all I'm asking for im just doing recreational riding around the delta and bay area lakes, i like to jump, sub, and screw around all day and get better at freestyle..

my bother thinks im a complete idiot for even considering this trade, he says who the hell freestyles 550's and a 750 is way better just fix that.. im not sure its just too modified for me and i just want a fast 550 and this seems good.

ANY INPUT WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

thanks a lot RP

...chaos? Its Fair!
you can get the parts you need on here. i would just go with the 750 or if you have the money find an a/m hull you like and transfer your 750 set up into it. but dont do what your htinking about doing it is a bad trade.

There is no such thing as a fast 550.... At least not a reliable one.

I would fix the 750.

Or sell them both and buy a better, more modern platform for what you want to do on the water.

That 750 needs to run race gas btw.

In the end it only matters that YOU are happy with what YOU are ridding on.

Have fun and I hope you get back on the water

the 750 has an aftermarket hull i was told.. it looks a bit different. i always ran race gas in the 750 but its just too temperamental and high performance for me.. im just a 150lbs teenager looking to get a fast reliable ski thats versatile and the 750 seem like a boat when i was riding it.

the 550 is small and light alot easier for me and this guy offering me this trade is waiting for me to confirm if im going to do this trade so he can begin building the 650 motor for me as he is building it all from scratch and new internals. he said he will ride with me and help me get it dialed in along with tuning up some of my other skis.

all i would have to do is bring up my 550 and 750 and come back in a week or two and go ride my 550/650 with also a new stainless prop and basically new slightly modded 650 engine.

Hes is rippin you! HAHA DO IT,DO IT..

Post some pics of the 750, inside and out.... You will get used to the bigger ski. You just need to ride it more.

I believe you will be happier on the 750 then the 550 long term. If you dont have time to work on it find a good shop to work on it and go from there.

I belive you right. ive talked to my dad and a mechanic they both said trade the motor for a stock or mild modded 750 engine. thats my plan.

Between your two options- keep that 750.. I think you said skat pump? im assuming mag? in which case, youd be getting kind of hosed on the 550 fix up deal...

BEST BET- part them both out, and take the money + a little and get yourself an SXR if you really want to go fast..
IF you want to have FUN.. get a superjet.

Yes Full Skat Trak pump and impeller. its looking like im keeping the 750 and trading the motor for a mild modded 750 motor that will be reliable.

but seriously great option id take a SXR, or a superjet but im only 16 and gotta work with what ive got. ill still have 2 skis instead of one so i can take a buddy with me!

thanks alot for the input

You can detune the 750 for pump gas by simply installing a stock head and carb. Ebay the injection and head. The 550 trade is a bad move.

Id sell that head, and the injection system on ebay for sure.. or here..
And get yourself an ADA or similar head, and run like 185psi for pump gas, and then get a set of dual carbs.

Any suggestions on a pipe for a mild modded 750 motor? II can use the jetpro, or a
wetpipe $200-250 more..

You can use the pipe thats on the engine as long as the impeller is not too steep. A Concord 11-16 will work with a high port/low compression setup. A stock SXI head should work with pump gas IF the exhaust port has been raised, otherwise use one from an SX, XI, or SXR.
