Blaster Advice before I install new pump shoe

Location

I am going to use West System G-Flex to install my new aluminum pump shoe (recommended by Jet Maniac).

After removing the old broken plastic shoe, I had some fiberglass come off with the old shoe in several spots. See pics.

Do you think the G-Flex will be good enough to fill these damaged areas or should I fix 'em with marine-tex or some fiber glass prior to gluing the new shoe in?

The new shoe didn't fit right outta the box. I will need to do some grinding to get it to fix and unfortunately my buddy in Tampa still has my grinder. So I am dead in the water until tomorrow eve.

Thanks in advance.

I was told the G-Flex is the best way to go. Here's info from the site: " With a modulus of elasticity of 150,000 PSI, it is a bit more flexible than standard epoxies and polyester, but much stiffer than adhesive sealants. This gives G/flex the ability to make structural bonds that can absorb the stress of expansion, contraction, shock and vibration. It is ideal for bonding dissimilar materials." It was $25 for the kit.

Glad to hear so far that my slight damage is nothing to worry about. I didn't feel like repairing any more than I had to. It took me two hours to get the old shoe out. It came out in a thousand pieces too.
