Adjusting driveshaft left/right for alignment?

I can't figure an easy way to adjust the driveshaft to the left when using a cold fusion alignment tool. I figured I should throw out a lifeline before I start over complicating it and do something I regret like start from scratch with a new pump shoe or hog out my pump bolt holes.

I've got the up and down part with spacers the same as own but left and right is eluding me. Am I having a brain fart?

Take a 3/8 coarse bastard (that's a file) or a grinding burr and elongate the holes in the red. nozzle slightly.

Spin the drive shaft a bit until it lines up how you want. I've never seen a perfectly straight drive shaft. Just kidding. With all jokes aside, I understand the idea of the CF tool, but what if the bulkhead wasn't built square or the midshaft mounting holes are off? Wouldn't that tool hurt you more than help in those instances?

That's the purpose of the cf tool, to help in aligning due to non square bulkhead. When the collar binds it's because the midshaft mounting point isn't squared up, thus requiring shims (which you are to install with the midshaft).

Mcdog, egg out those pump mounting holes for get left/right adjustment. Make life easy and do you're initial alignment without the pump seal installed. Get driveshaft centered (eyeball) in bulkhead and slide midshaft on and align to the point the midshaft mounting holes line up with inserts in the bulkhead. Then put the cf tool on and shim til it slides effortlessly. Note shims and ensure gap is even between wear ring and pump shoe then open a beer and reinstall it all with the seal. You're probably already past this point, this has been what's worked best for me.

If either of those is off then the pump would still need to be aligned with them to prevent premature wear.

I usually can get enough side to side adjustment by just prying with a large pry bar, and tightening while holding where you want it.

I did just do an aftermarket bob hull that I had to enlarge pump mount holes as it was WAY off.
