I am working on an adapter plate to except the stock flame arrestor from my 701 38 mm carbs. This plate mounts on the 44 mm carbs. I had a need for this and was wondering if anyone else has a need? I am having them laser cut out of 16 ga. T 304 stainless steel. They are two plates spot welded together to make a flange. The screen from your carb is then cut to fit inside the rubber inlet of the stock arrestor it is trapped between the rubber inlet and the plastic box housing.

assembly

I first separated a carb screen from its rubber grommet then placed the plastic air box inlet on the screen and marked around the circumference with a marker, I then used a sheers to cut the pattern on the screen. Then I placed the screen inside the rubber inlet then installed the rubber inlet back on the air box then installed the air box on the carbs.

I just held the base down with the eight threaded holes in the top of the carbs, my plate it cut with clearance holes. No need for adapters.

unless of course you want the nice shaped airflow into it

anywater you get in there with out adaptors is going down the carbs
i found i had to drill holes in the base
just a few small ones
as some water gets in
not much but jst enough
if you dont use adaptors you will have the same problem only worse

the stock plate has a breather down the side to let the water out
as well
you may be ok
but i guess time will tell
its a great system and it works very well
