Super Jet ADA Head + Stock Flame Arrestor = Not a good fit :-(

So I recently picked up an ADA head and took care of the install with not too much trouble. However, when I got to putting the stock flame arrestor back on, there are some definite clearance issues. I'm not keen on getting aftermarket flame arrestors as I don't want my engine to chug any water anytime soon, so, what are my options?

It looks like I could cut into the plastic, but I think there would be a chance for oil/gas mix to get all over the head. Is there a spacer that could save me some room so I don't have to cut the plastic housing?

Thanks in advance.

I hate this pic but it shows the notch you need to cut (assuming dual 38's) You only cut through the outer part of the cover so water is still blocked from getting in.

i just put a small cut at an angle where the air box bumps out in the middle...do it in stages so you don't over do it. cut a little, then do a fitment check, cut it again, check again, and so on until it fits IMG_3142.jpg you can see where i made the cut in this picture...good luck
