AC pole bushings and x metal bolts

I was trying to get rid of the single bolt and annoying loose and screeching pole, tried xmetal bolts but they are not long enough. figures ...50 bucks for 2 bolts and they still dont work.

So I go buy 2 other stainless 14 mill bolts and 4 nuts ,couple of washers for 11 bucks.Only thing is even with the outside locking bolts, lifting the pole up still loosens the bolts, the hole in the pole is huge on the inside and required a pretty big washer,Im trying loc tight this go round,we shall see,but I feel like if i had 2 more of those bushings for the inside of the pole I could make it work, anyone know if they are availible seperate?

Go to your hardware store and buy some nylon washers.
Also you need 2 nuts on each end to keep it tight and lots of red loctite.
Tighten 1 nut with red and then the other one with red and let dry overnight

hangtime, yea I have 2 nuts on the end of the bolt, without lock tight it didnt work at all,we shall see with the loc tight, not following ya on the nylon washers, these bushings are pretty specific, ill upload some pics

idok,Sure Ill switch poles over a couple ah bolts,Ya livin by yer own advise over there. What was yer pole again? get them $50 bolts yet?lol

scotts pole is 24-7

thanks mark, thats what im talkin bout.would be nice to have 2 more of them.think i can get it to stay tight with them on the inside also.

scott,so when ya switchn poles and paint?what bracket ya got?

thanks,nathon

yea I know the bracket is thick, but im not sure they would even work on a stocker bracket with this pole, the x bracket is way thin.

Go to www.mcmaster.com

Seach bushing.

Click on 'axial bushings' - some of these thrust bushing in there that could work

Click on 'bronze bushings' - some in there that could work

Even if the size isn't exactly the same, a larger size could be purchased and then chucked up in a lathe to turn down to the correct size.
