A quicker battery backup.

Son of a.........

Power just went out again for a few seconds and my computer shut down.
I have an APC UPS ES-750 battery backup but it seams that my computer reacts much faster than the backup and shuts down. Never did this with the old transformer/power pack/ whatever it's called.

Is there a battery backup out there that reacts faster than the regular APC deals ?

Yep, the battery is good to go. Even picked up a whole new deal with the same results.

The instant that the power goes out the computer shuts down. Most of the time it's just a flicker and it restarts right away. If the power stays out, the computer still restarts right up but it runs on the battery.
When ever this happens and the computer dies, it takes a split second and the battery beeps to inform me that the power is out. Bit late.

do you have it plugged into the right ports on the UPS? some of the ports may be surge only and the others are surge/ups....

check that first....

if thats good to go, your current ups set-up might not be able to handle the power demands of your currrent computing system

I hate laptops with a passion.

The mouse pad is just retarded.
Have you heard you can use a mouse with a laptop? :Banane37:
Although I don't remember when I used one, the pad is a lot more natural to me now...

BTW, if you ever need to get your "desktop fix", you can just go to a public library.

Plus you can tether your phone to the laptop and have that internet connection to involve in some X drama during those power outages or when you are stuck on the side of a highway. :scratchchin:

I agree that a traditional mouse is better for workout since you have to move your whole wrist with the mouse as opposed to only finger and (occasionally) thumb with the laptop pad. Also the desktop pretty much requires the sitting position... I am flat on my back with a laptop right now after a quick sledding session with kids.

I have net access on the laptop but at work I work. I know, strange.
Another strange thing is that I don't shy away from the strenuous activity that is moving ones hand.

Laptops are fun little toys but I have no need for one at home, sorry.
