A new idea or an old failure??

So my dad just installed a new attwood blower in the bilge of our ebbtide and i started thinking, since some of you guys have tubes coming in from your pole for ventilation, why how extend them in a little further and put a blower on the end to force a little more air into the ski?

Anyone thought about that? I would imagine with a solid flow of air coming from the pole, it would be much easier to close those front vents without worrying.

Been done before, Cyclone Air Induction system, back in the mid 90's for racers.

Dustin Farthing had it on his Riva skis, and it sounded like a vacuum cleaner when it was running. As far as performance gains, I don't remember if it worked as advertised or not.

Waste of time. To get any real gain you would have to seal the hull, and force air in to pressurise the entire hull. Then tune the carbs for the higher pressure, and carry a second battery or upgrade the charging system to keep it all running.

wouldn't the motor suck more air through the pole/hood than those pumps can flow anyway?

pretty sure they are just enough to vent a small area like a boat engine hatch of fumes and thats about it.

i wasnt implying it would be used as a supercharger, but i think the vacuum created by the motor would pull more air into the engine bay than that electric air pump could supply so it wouldnt even be helping out.

but be my guest and try it to prove me wrong... id gladly stick my foot in my mouth if you noticed any gains from it.

The guy on the thread posted previously said he felt decent gains. But he had 2-4 of them stuffed into a sit down ski. In theory i dont see why it wouldnt work, a better supply of slightly pressurized cooler air, and getting some of that heat from the engine out maybe.

Glen Perry has been selling those things for years. They are called "magic fans" or something like that. Made him a multimillionaire.

For those interested in a REAL PRODUCT that WILL REALLY GIVE YOU THA BRAP, contact me, I have a few old computer cooling fans somewhere in the basement.
