Ill let ya know, but you need to give more info. Flat or surf, both? What can you do now, subs, fountains, hood tricks, rolls, BF's? This is very important in deciding a direction. also what are your goals?

A/M hull for sure. Especially if your playing around in the surf, you really don't need much power. After riding down in Oceanside with the "O-Side Crew" I've learned that bigger motors just take up more gas. You don't really need all that motor. They are all running stock motors, Zack Bright included until his recent upgrade.

Also, riding flat water, that 701 will feel a lot beefier because of the power to weight ratio along with the placement of the weight will give you much more control.

Bigger motor = more fuel and debatably more problems or shall I say, more expensive fixes.

An A/m hull with a ported motor should be a ripper.

You need to get out more. There are plenty of high end, expensive AR15 clones.

Agreed, I got all the goodies with my AR-15 including .22 conversion kit and spent well under 2k. Then the ammo. Better hope Obama doesn't' get into office again. Trying to tax ammunition 500%. Going to make for an expensive time to "just go shooting".

* Don't know the accuracy of the 500% thing, thats what the NRA told me when they were trying to get me to renew my membership for 3 years so they can raise as much money as possible to raise awareness of all the horrible things Obama is going to do and how miserable current and prospective gun owners are going to be.

After riding A/M hulls for a few years now, getting on a limited superjet just feels boring to me. Just try some out before pulling the trigger, I learned that the expensive way.lol

A well built a/m hull doesnt need to be reinforced and modded like RN hulls do. A stock or ported 701 based motor with dual 38s is reliable and cheap to maintain. As mentioned above, they are fuel efficient (especially when used with a light a/m hull, i average 2 hours or so per tank) so much less money to operate and more ride time on a tank.

That said big PV motors are lots of fun for flatwater!! They are overkill in the surf IMO for all but the best pro riders or crazy balls out amateurs.

My 'ride the lake then load up and go ride surf' all rounder with light a/m hull and ported oem motor here:

agreed, also reinforcing and footholds etc all add up, if I knew how much i was going to put into my stock hull, money and time i would have bought a/m

Thats for sure.. I am the worst example :) 2010 brand new SJ + all after market mods.. going close to 12-13k+ already :), but when I bough it I didn't even know what stand up ski is, had never tried one..

Here in SE Florida, ocean surf sucks, but still its way more fun than flat water IMO.. Our steady group ride in the chop any chance we get. 2-3 ft waves is a blast for us. Most of the time when ocean is flat as glass we all go to the famous swamp in our "back yard" and ride around. The only person who really has fun though is Mr. Steve with his Vision as he is the only one who pulls sweet plate to plate barrel rolls :). The rest of us with modded SJets do the trivial tricks such as all sorts of submarines, nose stabs, riding on the hood, under the hood etc.. :) these tricks are no more fun and I really feel its time for me to move on.

We have similiar riding here. However, I enjoy other tricks and riding other than just flips and dont consider them to be trivial. I never get tired of riding skis whether they are a/m or stock hulls. I dont think it is only fun riding flipping expensive skis and dont want people new to the sport think that is what they need to have a good time.

Ok, I had the chance to try some after market hulls with different motors. Vision with ported 701, Superfreak with Jetmaniac's Big bore engine (Jetmaniacs ski), That tiny small Superfreak hull with Dasa power in it (Lucas ski) and they were all pretty impressive.
I concluded that hull is more important than power. However, adding that excellent budget Big Bore engine makes the whole package perfect :)
